about me and EMFs
I have been helping families and professionals achieve optimal health and happiness since 2016.
By implementing simple strategies we can give our bodies a break from harmful EMFs while maximising the benefit of native EMFs.
Below you will find plenty of information on the harmful effects of high and low frequency radiation, dirty electricity and blue light.
The harmful effects of EMFs have been known for decades.
There are literally thousands of studies that prove that EMFs are dangerous for us and sometimes deadly. But like the old story of tobacco, these studies are not promoted; they are not celebrated and acted upon like our lives depend on it. No, they are hidden and they are ignored. Why? Very simply – money. Telecommunications is one of the most lucrative industries in the world, in 2018, some of the top companies made $1,5 trillion profit. That is plenty of money to pay scientists to defend their tech and to defame scientists who say anything else, plenty of money to ‘support’ government and ensure that the law is on their side (it is legally not possible to object to a mobile phone tower based on health concerns, for example).
why worry about EMFs?
SO WHAT ARE THE HEALTH EFFECTS?
The information below is from Dr Martin Pall who is one of the leading researches in this field. The paper is about the incredible risk 5G poses to humanity, but focuses on the ‘pathophysiological effects caused by non-thermal microwave frequency’. Particularly interesting in this paper are the following: review of why recommendations and research papers by pro-industry groups are not reliable; that health effects from EMFs are cumulative and sometimes irreversible; current safety guidelines are 7,2 million times too high; that microwave radiation is pulsed which is much more damaging to humans than non-pulsed. Also note that although he talks about ‘microwave radiation the effects are the same for low frequency radiation.
EMFs:
- Attack our nervous systems resulting in neurological / neuropsychiatric effects (sleep disturbance/insomnia, headache, depression/depressive symptoms, fatigue/tiredness, dysesthesia, concentration/attention dysfunction, memory changes, dizziness, irritability, loss of appetite/body weight, restlessness/anxiety, nausea, skin burning/tingling/dermographism and EEG changes )
- Attack our endocrine systems (diabetes, thyroid disorders, growth hormone problems, Addison’s disease, PCOS amongst others that are hormone related)
- Produce oxidative stress and free radical damage (these have essential roles in virtually ALL chronic diseases)
- Attack DNA of our cells (can result in cancer and mutations in germ line cells producing mutations in future generations)
- Produce elevated levels of apoptosis (leading to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, MND)
- Lower male and female fertility, lower sex hormones, lower libido and increased levels of spontaneous abortion
- Produce excessive intracellular calcium and excessive calcium signalling (activates the synthesis of both NO and superoxide= free radical damage on cellular DNA)
- Attack the cells of our bodies to cause cancer
Other related health affects you will find in the paper: autism, ADHD, cataracts, breakdown of blood-brain barrier, lowered melatonin, life threatening cardiac effects. Basically our entire health is put at risk by EMFs.
DIRTY ELECTRICITY
Dirty Electricity is another concerning EMF. Epidemiologist Sam Milham, has shown that cancer clusters and other disease clusters that he has studied in America are caused by dirty electricity. His book ‘Dirty Electricity’ is an excellent read for anyone wanting to further their knowledge about this toxin found in most of our homes. Dr Milham says all the diseases of civilization – cancer, heart disease; diabetes and even suicide are due to EMF exposure.
A lot of home appliances, solar panels, PLC, smart meters and LED lighting cause dirty electricity in the home. High frequency transients (or harmonics) are injected on to the power lines, which is essentially like having mini mobile phone towers throughout your home in the power cables.
BUT NON-IONIZING RADIATION HAS NO THERMAL EFFECTS THEREFORE IT IS SAFE
This is the old line used by industry-pro scientists to make the public believe their technology is safe. Unfortunately this line is still being used today and is still believed by many people. It has been proven over and over again that radiation does not need to heat the body to do significant damage.
‘No you cannot knock electrons from atoms with non-ionizing radiation but you can generate biochemical reactions in a cell, you can damage DNA with EMF exposure. Thermal standards do not protect people; they only protect corporations’ Dr Martin Blank
- EMFs activate the voltage gated calcium channels in our bodies and allow extra calcium to flow which results in: excessive oxidative stress. Dr Pall
- EMFs weaken the blood brain barrier allowing toxins to pass through to the brain. Professor L Salford, Dr D Belpomme
- EMFs dehydrate our cells and cause mitochondrial dysfunction. Dr Kruse
- EMFs damage our DNA as these coils are fractal antennas, so they attract radio frequencies. Dr Blank
- Studies have shown EMFs negatively impact quality of sperm by non-thermal effects.
- The reproductive system can be damaged from EMF exposure.
- DNA damage is proven from mobile phone exposure in a 2005 University of Vienna study.
CHILDREN
Children are smaller than adults, their skulls are thinner and they contain more water. They are perfect electrical conductors, EMFs are absorbed more deeply by children and because they need more water the dehydration effect EMFs have on their body is more devastating to their health. They are like little steaks being cooked in a microwave.
Our children are being exposed to a group 2B classified carcinogen from a far earlier age than we were ever exposed. Tumours can take years to develop, if your 3 year old has a brain tumour detected at 28, can you say that you did everything you could have done to protect them?
INDUSTRY WARNINGS
Telcos know that mobile phones cause damage, they even warn us in the operators manual that phones should never be held against the body. Do you use speaker phone or do you put your phone to your ear? Because even the phone manufacturers, the first people to defend their product are telling you that you shouldn’t put your phone to your ear. Were the phone calls you made today worth a brain tumour in 5, 10, 15 years’ time?
Even Apple investors want children’s phone use scrutinized:
The tech creators of Silicon Valley want you addicted to their programs, but not their own children:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/26/style/silicon-valley-nannies.html
One question I am often asked is ‘which EMF should I be most worried about’?
The answer depends on a few things, but the radiation you should be most worried about is the one that affects you personally the most. This may not be immediately obvious, but as you start eliminating different sources of EMFs from your life you will start to notice that some things affect you more than others.
For sufferers of EHS (electro-hyper sensitivity), some cannot handle Bluetooth at all, their reaction is immediate and can be debilitating, this same person might be able to handle some low frequency electrical fields better than other people.
Distance and Duration
These are two very important considerations when trying to work out which EMF is the most dangerous for you. Distance is your friend and the amount of time spent around a radiation source is important, the less the better.
WHY WORRY ABOUT BLUE LIGHT?
‘Humans are the only species bright enough to make
artificial lights and stupid enough to live under it’
Dr Jack Kruse
‘…Turning off the lights at 11.30pm and closing your eyes to the street lights shining in your windows, the green glow of the VCR or your alarm clock isn’t fooling even one of your cells’ T.S Wiley ‘Lights Out’.
Blue light is also a non-native EMF. So as the EMF coach, I’m equally concerned about the negative effects that blue light has on health.
• Blue light makes regenerative sleep practically impossible.
• Lack of regenerative sleep has been linked to a myriad of diseases including depression, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, ADHD and autism.
• Blue light inhibits the secretion of the critical hormone melatonin.
• Melatonin is an antioxidant and helps detoxify the body.
• Melatonin activates apoptosis and autophagy.
• Melatonin is essential for the body to fall into a deep restorative sleep.
• Mitochondria cannot perform optimally if we do not sleep properly. The health of our mitochondria determines the health of us.
• Blue light disrupts the circadian and seasonal rhythms of our body.
• Blue light causes poor eye sight and can accelerate blindness.
• Children are put at great risk through blue light exposure; their eyes are much less protected and they are still developing. Their retinas absorb more blue light than adults, so whatever damage can be done to an adult’s vision and brain, could be devastating for children.
Let’s look at these adverse effects in more detail.
We often complain that there aren’t enough hours in the day. To do everything we expect ourselves to do before we collapse in a heap in bed is always a race against self, others and time. ‘Luckily’ for us back in the 1800’s, Edison made it possible to expand the hours of the day with the first commercially viable light bulb, so today we can fit in more extremely important, urgent duties such as scrolling through social media or preparing school lunches. Under these dazzling clear bulbs we sweat it out in gyms, we catch up with friends at restaurants, we watch people on TV watching people on TV. Electrical lighting is such an important and enormous part of our lives that it is just completely normal. Something so normal but so very unnatural.
Remember the old incandescent light bulbs? Although still an unnatural and artificial source of light they are not as harmful as the new modern LEDs. Yes, your lights could be harming you… we love these new bulbs, they last forever! They run cheaply! They’re so nice and bright! They’re causing us cancer and destroying our eye sight!
Dr Alexander Wunsch, physician and photobiologist is one of the world’s leading experts on the dangers of LED lighting and he tells us the isolated blue from LEDs and the constant flickering of the light causes massive oxidative stress in our bodies. As many Drs and Scientists tell us, excessive oxidative stress leads to many modern diseases. Dr Wunsch says there is a great risk coming to our societies if we switch to non thermal light sources, daylight conditions during the night time hinders our regeneration during the night.
Blue light morning and night causes absolute chaos with our circadian rhythm.
Why is our circadian rhythm important? It regulates everything. It’s your internal 24 hour clock and it needs to be in tune to ensure you stay active and healthy. Dr Satchin Panda, a leading circadian biologist says that every reaction in our body, hormonal, chemical, sleep and the amount of blood pumped by the heart for example, are all organised by our circadian rhythm.
Quality sleep is one of the fundamental processes needed to stay disease free or to fight disease. The circadian rhythm needs to be in tune for quality sleep to occur. Darkness sends a message to our biological clock that night has fallen and it is time to wind down, this is when the pineal gland secretes melatonin. Melatonin helps your body to have a regenerative sleep.
If you expose yourself to blue light at night you have convinced your body that it’s still the day time, your cortisol levels are going to stay high and melatonin will not be released effectively. You might still fall asleep exhausted but it’s the quality of the sleep that you are risking.
‘Not enough sleep makes you fat, hungry, impotent, hypertensive, and cancerous, with a bad heart’ T. S Wiley ‘Lights Out’.
Dr Wunsch says that melatonin lowers the body temperature at night; this is energy efficient and allows the cells to refresh and store enough energy for the next day. If this vital process does not occur, degenerative diseases can start developing. Melatonin helps to detox the body and as a free radical it fights oxidation.
The blue light of your mobile phone is about the same brightness as the midday sun, the TV, tablets, computers even the light in the fridge is enough blue light to mess up your circadian rhythm and disturb melatonin secretion.
Our mitochondria are negatively impacted by poor sleep. Mitochondria are our little power houses, they give us our energy. Poor mitochondrial function leads to depression, anxiety, diabetes, ADHD, autism and Alzheimer’s.
Ever dreamed of an endless summer? Turning lights on at night means that your dreams can come true, you have convinced your body that it is always summer (without the warmth of the sun on your skin and the cocktails), What are the consequences of this? Winter is coming… Winter, a time when it is cold and food is scarce (at least this used to be the case and our biology relies on this still being the case), your body craves sugar to store energy for the impending famine and to insulate our bodies against the cold of winter. Only problem is – winter never comes because we keep our lights turned on, and we’re never cold because we heat our houses. All of that fat just stays there – our ‘fat pad’, what comes next – disease. ‘…high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, stroke, mental illness or cancer’ T.S Wiley ‘Lights Out’.
More blue light bad news?
There is plenty!
The skin is as affected as the eyes by blue light, because the photoreceptor – melanopsin which scientists always knew was in the eyes has recently been discovered to be in the skin also. Even a small amount of light creeping onto your skin while you sleep is enough to disrupt your circadian rhythm. So, it is also necessary to protect your skin from artificial blue light, for example, wear a hat and long sleeved tops inside so arms are not exposed.
A Harvard study shows a possible link between a disruption in circadian rhythm and obesity and diabetes. What disrupts our circadian rhythm? Blue light.

A study by the University of Toledo found that blue light damages the eye’s retina that can lead to macular degeneration which results in significant vision loss. This is not a reversible condition, ‘once the photoreceptors are dead, they are dead’.
A woman has been left with permanent eye damage from her mobile phone. Her Doctors say her eyes looked like they were ‘cooked in a microwave’.

If you are fighting breast cancer and being treated with Tamoxifen, avoiding blue light can increase the success of this drug:

Is there any blue light good news? Yes!
The sun with its beautiful blues and reds, oranges, violets and greens is arguably the most important EMF in the world. See the sun in the morning; bathe in its beauty to start your day how nature intended. The light from the sun in the morning sets your circadian rhythm; it sends a message to your pineal gland to produce melatonin to be used later on. There is probably nothing more important you can do for your health than seeing the sunrise and protecting yourself from artificial blue light.
Please see my blog posts for the various ways you can protect yourself from blue light. In summary these are – limiting lights used at night, switching LED lights for red incandescent lights, wearing blue light blocking glasses, wearing long sleeves and pants to protect the skin and using blue light filter programs for telephones and computers.
